Holy Week and Easter 2019
At Bethlehem we mark the week proceeding Easter with a number of opportunities for worship and reflection.
- April 14th is Palm Sunday when we remember Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem, followed by the retelling of his betrayal and death with a reader’s theater. Services at 8:45 and 11am.
- April 18th is Maundy Thursday – when we remember the night Jesus was betrayed. This year we’ll gather for a meal at 5:45p, followed by a simple communion service at our dinner tables, and then a multi-sensory “Stations of the Cross” where you will be self-guided through a series of prayer activities to reflect on the passion story. This is a service with all ages in mind.
- April 19th is Good Friday. The final hours of Christ’s life are retold in a richly symbolic service sometimes called Tenebrae. Scripture readings and songs are paired with the dimming of light, the stripping of the chancel, and anointing with Myrrh. 7pm in the Sanctuary.
- April 21st is Easter Sunday. Jubilant worship will happen at 8:45 and 11am. In between services the youth group will serve a delicious Easter brunch for donations towards their summer trip.
